Does Disability Count? Data Conference

June 13

The 2007 Minnesota Disability Data Conference, entitled “Does Disability Count?,” will be held on:

Wednesday, June 13 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. at the U of Minnesota Continuing Education and Conference Room, St. Paul.

Note that interest is high and space is limited, so register soon if you are interested.

Info Session for Consumer Support Grant

June 14

If you are disabled and want more control, flexibility and responsibility for your care, attend a free information session that explains the Consumer Support Grant.

Sponsored by Hennepin County’s Human Services and Public Health Department, the information session, “Consumer Support Grant,” will answer questions such as “How do I receive funding through this grant?” “What types of services may I buy?” and “What is my responsibility?”

Rural Health Conference on Healthy Communities

June 18 - 19

Professionals interested in rural health are encouraged to register now for this conference focusing on strengthening health care in Minnesota’s rural communities. The Minnesota Critical Access Hospital Conference and the Rural Minnesota Forum is June 18, and the Minnesota Rural Health Conference, “Growing Healthy Rural Communities,” is June 19. Both days will focus on access, quality, technology and workforce issues in rural MN health care. Duluth.

“Insights and Observations” Exhibit

Through June 28

Courage Center artists present “Insights and Observations” including paintings, drawings and ceramics created by artists with disabilities. The artwork explores the elements of art and the world perspective of people who are disabled. Courage Center is a nonprofit rehabilitation and resource center that works to advance the lives of people experiencing barriers to health and independence.

Free, regular hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Hennepin County Government Center, 300 S. 6th St., A Level, Minneapolis.

 

Disability-Focused Art Exhibits

Through August 19

access/ABILITY is a myth-dispelling exhibit that presents people living with disabilities as participants in the world and features engaging activities that show the similarities and differences in how each of us—with or without disabilities—goes places, communicates, has fun and learns. Discover What Art Is… from VSA arts, is made up of contributions from K-12 students with disabilities from around the nation and participating countries.
