Spring Cleaning Help is Available

by Lisa Schmidtke

Spring is almost here (ignore the snow) and with warmer weather and brighter skies comes spring cleaning! The task sounds daunting for any able bodied, energetic person, let alone for someone who has difficulty reaching for cobwebs, bending to do yard work or lifting heavy boxes. That's why it's important to enlist a chore services professional to make sure you don't spend all summer recovering from your spring cleaning.

If you're one of "those neighbors" that still has your Christmas tree lights up, don't worry! You can hire Christmas Décor to take them down and while their there you can schedule your holiday decorating for next winter. Seasonal Impressions will also help you with your exterior holiday decorating and offer you interesting products such as the Mosquito Killing System, Gutter Brush and mulching services to prepare you for summer.

Next, it's time to take a good look at home and yard maintenance. Make your list then call Senior Community Services. Their H.O.M.E. (Household and Outside Maintenance for Elderly) program is a homemaker, maintenance and chore services program for the elderly in many Twin Cities suburbs. They maintain a core staff of trained individuals and clients are asked to pay for services based on ability (sliding fee scale). ElderCircle helps seniors and disabled adults in Itasca County stay in their homes by offering services to help with yard care and snow removal. They also developed ElderCircle Chore Corp which is a list of businesses in Itasca County that seniors can trust to be fair, affordable and respectful.

The mere thought of an entire top-to-bottom spring clean may be reason enough to procrastinate so maybe you just need a little organization. Provenience Senior Concierge Services p rovides an objective and convenient single point of contact to access and manage senior home care services, including home maintenance. Organize Plus provides creative solutions to reduce stress, increase productivity and bring order back into your life.

If hiring a home maintenance crew is beyond your budget, there's still ways to get help. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Minnesota Chapter is providing up to $1000 reimbursement for people with MS to purchase chore services such as household chores, yard work, snow removal, housekeeping and errands. Volunteers of America provide services for seniors and people with special needs including chore services, transportation and assisted/independent living options.

The goal of so many seniors and disabled citizens is simply to stay in their home. A large part in achieving that goal is ensuring that the owners can maintain their home safely. Before you think about needed repairs, please research and consider businesses and organizations whose expertise can handle your project.
