Can We Count on Minnesota’s Voting System? A Forum on the State of Elections in Minnesota

Day/Time: Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon; Registration and coffee at 9:30 am.

Location: First Universalist Church, 3400 Dupont Avenue South, Mpls.

Cost: Event is free and open to the public. This forum is designed to educate the public and elected officials about our voting system. Procedural and equipment requirements of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) have introduced changes about which we all should be aware. Panelists will discuss voter registration issues, voter disenfranchisement and suppression, ensuring the accuracy of the vote count, national lessons learned and the impact of the Help America Vote Act.

Mental Health Day on the Hill

Let your voice be heard! Come to the Capitol and demonstrate your support for increased funding and improved policies for mental health services. We need access to healthcare services and medication, more affordable housing, employment opportunities, community mental health services, and family supports. We need better educational outcomes and fewer people ending up in the criminal justice system due to untreated mental illness. Let’s advocate for children, adolescents, adults and families.

Day/Time:

• Tuesday, 10:00 am: Legislative Briefing.
• 12 noon: Rally in the Rotunda of the Capitol
• 1:00 pm: Visit with your Legislators

Location: Christ Lutheran Church, 105 University Avenue West, St. Paul; (just across the street from the Capitol). Please note: No food is allowed and you need to park at one of the ramps or surface lots.

One Stop Shopping for Persons with Disabilities and Their Support Network

Participants will be able to do “one stop shopping” on information related to county services, health/wellness, relationships, jobs and job training, leisure/recreation options, guardianship, community inclusion, vacation planning, school transition, social security, home and daily living ideas, residential services, self-advocacy, day program options, augmentative communication devices, respite providers, aging, etc.

Day/Time: Monday, 4:30 to 7:00 pm.

Location: Merrick, Inc., 3210 Labore Road, Vadnais Heights, MN

Cost: Free. There will be exhibits from 4:30 – 6:00 pm and breakout sessions from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. A light dinner will be served from 5:30 – 6:00 pm.
