Mandatory
Peer Mentor Training Day
All new and current
Mentors must attend training! Mentors will be paid for this all
day training.
Day/Time: Tuesday, 10:30 am
- 3:30 pm; Location: 1919 University Ave. W., St Paul, Metro Mobility
should drive to the North entrance of the building. Free parking
in the North parking lot which is (north of Charles Ave), take elevators
at north entrance to basement level, conference room will be the
third door on the left.
During the morning session,
(10:30 - 12:00 pm) the Peer Mentoring Program Manager and Coordinator
will discuss new policies for the Peer Mentoring Program at MCIL.
Any mentors who are unable to attend this training should notify
and discuss this with Peer Program Coordinator.
Only light refreshments will
be provided for this day. There will be a lunch break between 12:00
pm - 1:00 pm. A list of restaurants located around the area will
be available, however, we recommend you bring your own lunch and
stay to socialize with others! Two personal care assistants (one
male/one female) will be available during the Peer Mentor Training.
If necessary, mentors are responsible for bringing their own PCA.
The afternoon training
(1:00 - 3:30 pm) will include guest speakers: Paul Deeming and
Kimberly Williams will share their knowledge and experience working
with the deaf/blind culture. They will explain different deaf/blind
accommodations and they will share with us various fun “hands-on” activities
to help us learn and understand more about the deaf/blind culture.
Questions are encouraged!
If a mentor is unable
to attend this training day but does not contact Coordinator he/she
will be removed from the Peer Mentoring Program. Please RSVP – ASAP!
