Program Helps People
with Disabilities
Gain Control, Flexibility

If you are eligible for Medical Assistance Home Care and want more control, flexibility and responsibility for your care, there are free information sessions that explain the Consumer Support Grant.

Sponsored by Hennepin County’s Human Services and Public Health Department, the information sessions, “Consumer Support Grant,” will answer questions such as “How do I receive funding through this grant?” “What types of services may I buy?” “How do I receive this grant,” and “What is my responsibility?”

Under CDCS Waiver

People who are disabled, their families and service providers may want to attend free information sessions that explain Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS). CDCS allows clients to hire, train and supervise their own staff and write their own plan.

Sponsored by Hennepin County’s Human Service and Public Health Department, the information sessions, “Consumer Directed Community Supports Overview,” will answer questions such as “How do I obtain a service?” “How is the CDCS waiver different from traditional waivers?” and “How can I use CDCS?”

Parents of
Disabled Children, Spouses of Disabled Adults May
Benefit from New Service

If you are the parent of a disabled child or the spouse of a disabled person, you may want to attend free information sessions that explain Consumer Directed Community Supports (CDCS). Since Oct. 1, 2004, CDCS allows parents of disabled children and spouses of disabled adults to be paid to provide care.

Sponsored by Hennepin County’s Human Services and Public Health Department, the information sessions, “Paying Parents of Minors and Spouses,” will answer questions such as “What are the pros and cons of using this service?” “Will I need to provide most of the hands-on assistance?”

Mental Retardation / Related Conditions Explained

People who are developmentally disabled, their families and service providers may want to attend free information sessions that explain services and program for people enrolled in the Mental Retardation/Related Conditions (MR/RC) waiver.

Sponsored by Hennepin County’s Human Services and Public Health Department, the information sessions, “Traditional MR/RC Waiver Services Overview,” will answer questions such as “What services are provided by licensed or traditional service providers?” and “What is the MR/RC waiver and will it help me?”
