Arc Hennepin-Carver’s ‘ABC’s
of Guardianship’
Sponsored by : Arc Hennepin-Carver.

The three-part workshop
will be held on 8th, 15th and 22nd of June: Part I —Assessing
the Need; Part II—Navigating the Process;
Part III —Assuming the Responsibilities. All the three sessions
are held on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

make informed decisions about appointing a guardian or conservator
for a person with disability.

2005 World Championship for
Athletes with a Disability. *Hosted by: NDSA(National Disability
Sports Alliance). Location: Connecticut College in New London, CT.
The 2005 Championship
will include world’s top athletes with
cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities will come to compete
in the nine sports including Bowls, Cross Country, Cycling, Powerlifting,
Slalom, Soccer, Swimming, Table Tennis and Track & Field. About
1000 athletes from 40 countries, are to be expected.
As a member of United States
Olympic Committee, NDSA also hosts
the National Sports Festival, an annual athletic competition at Connecticut
college. They hosted 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
Sponsorship packages are available
for individuals or organizations interested in making a difference
in the lives of athletes with physical disabilities. These packages
can be custom and tailored to meet specific needs of the sponsor.

Twin Cities Metro Area AmeriCorps Open House
Come Learn about the community service opportunities
available through AmeriCorps, hear from current members about their experience,
and talk to program representatives from all Twin Cities Metro Area AmeriCorps
programs that are currently hiring members for the 2005-2006 program year.
Tuesday,
June 28th at 6:30 pm at Pratt Community School - 66 Malcolm Ave. SE, Minneapolis. This
event is free to the public and will provide information about how to get
involved in community service through local AmeriCorps programs. All
of our programs are Equal Opportunity Employers and we are very interested

Dream Sculpture Workshop
Sponsored
By: Artist with Disabilities Alliance (AWDA). Location: Interact.
Day/time: Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost: $6 for AWDA members and
$10 for non-members.
Limited seats up to 15 people.
The workshop is presented by Tara Innmon. The main purpose is to
express deepest desires and fears by gaining knowledge about ourselves
from the creative unconscious.
Innmon has challenges of total blindness as well as fibromyalgia.
She will use her background in the healing arts to enhance her abilities
to help people using creativity in the process of living.
AWDA is a diverse community of individuals dedicated to the support,
mentorship, and promotion of artists with disabilities. Membership
is open to anyone with disability or to allies of people with disabilities.
Attendance at two or more meetings qualifies you of member rates
to workshops.

Leslye Orr, Theatre
Artist, Writer, and Founder and Associate Artistic Director of
the Center for Independent Artists will read from her children’s
book. The People on the Corner focuses on children with multiple
disabilities, and their inclusion issues.

his research on the history of service dogs in Minnesota. He was
a finalist in the Minnesota History Day competition. Presentation
includes a demonstration by Frankie and his dog, Hunter.

Service Conference
Location:
Edmund Fitzgerald Hall at the Duluth Entertainment Convention
Center (DECC). Cost: $125, which includes name of your organization
in the conference folder, two free parking permits.
The reservation for exhibitor booths are first-come, first-serve
basis. Please complete the Exhibitor form and return it by August
2, 2005.
The conference draws about 1000 health and human service practitioners.
It includes a wide variety of target audiences. The presentation
will cover some of the topics on how to enhance knowledge, skills
in health and human services, innovative ideas, new strategies and
best practices.
