ADA 15 Years Strong: Then,
Now & Beyond
by Margot Imdelke-Cross
On July 26, 2005 take
the day off work, put aside other responsibilities and come together
with friends, colleagues and others to celebrate the most important
disability civil rights legislation in our nation’s
history.
A statewide celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Americans
with Disabilities Act is scheduled for Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at
the Earle Brown Heritage Center, 6155 Earle Brown Drive, Brooklyn
Center from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The celebration will
include entertainment, exhibitors, workshops, food and presentations
by celebrities such as John Hockenberry—Peabody
and Emmy-award winning journalist and former Dateline NBC correspondent;
Kevin Kling—humorist and storyteller, hot off his statewide
tour with the Guthrie Theater; and, Barry Taylor—Legal Advocacy
Director at Equip for Equality, Inc., in Illinois. The event is made
possible by a generous donation from Cargill and by the activities
of the members of the ADA Planning Committee.
When we compare life prior to the passage of the ADA with life today
and explore our hopes for the future, we can really be excited about
the progress we have made and the direction in which we are moving!
Be part of the excitement and join the celebration!
