My Brother

by Angela Piekarski

A glisten of a comforting light in a world of drear. Those that know him love him and want to keep him near.

No other soul so pure in its ways
Could fight its way through such a haze.

His smile and his laugh are truly warm and sincere. They drain away your problems and make the present clear.

His life is one nobody would ever wish for. Ironically I’m sure he’s never wanted more.

Sure, he isn’t perfect, but who’s to say what is. To me he’s just my brother and his whole heart he always gives.

It’s the simple things he does that always bring delight. Like when he shakes his head and hugs me really tight.

Sometimes I wonder what he wants to communicate and what he thinks about
What he wants to say, but just can’t get out.

I imagine it’s difficult and I understand his anger of defeat. But it always seems unfair that he never gets it beat.

I can’t count all of the times he has had to be a patient. But his courage conquers all; it is truly a sensation.

He seldom shows any fear and when he does it’s pain. For what bravery he possesses, forever will it reign.

To see him unhappy is like a dagger in the heart. It makes you want to cry and then simply fall apart.

My brother is unique and incredibly genuine. His love keeps our family together woven in a vine.

Endlessly his warm affection will spread to those that he knows. We will receive it with open arms and return it so it shows.
