Over 40 workshops featuring: Strengthening local self-advocacy groups and the statewide self-advocacy movement, Personal wellness for self-advocates, Living in the community as a self-advocate, Self-advocacy for transition-aged youth. Keynote speaker Betty Williams, regional representative on the Self Advocates Becoming Empowered board and the President of Self-Advocates of Indiana will fill us in on what is happening in self-advocacy on the national level and encourage everyone to get more involved.

September 11: Community Power Vote!

Sponsored by the Disability Law Center, Metropolitan Center for Independent Living (MCIL), Advocating Change Together (ACT), and People First Minnesota. The session will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The program is organized around the 1-2-3 steps for guiding people toward voting.

3. Vote on November 2, 2004
Participants will leave the workshop with tools and resources to conduct their own get-out-the-vote effort at work, school, and church or in the community. Call ACT at 651-641-0297 to register. September 11: 1st Annual Medtronic Walk-N-Roll benefit for Courage Center
Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen

The Walk-N-Roll is also sponsored by the Minnesota Twins, Starbucks, Subway, and Hubbard Broadcasting and includes three course options - 1K, 3K, and 5K. There will also be family entertainment and a picnic lunch. Participants who raise $125 or more in pledges will receive two tickets for the September 18 Minnesota Twins game. Participants who raise from $250 up through $2,500 or more will be eligible for prizes that include Target and Best Buy gift certificates, Twins memorabilia, Courage items, etc. All contributions are tax-deductable. The Walk for Justice is a community event for grassroots non-profits working for social justice in the Twin Cities. The International Library of Poetry

Over $58,000 in prized will be awarded in this years poetry contest. Poets from the Saint Paul area, particularly beginners, are welcome to try to win their share of over 250 prizes.
