Medtronic's 2004 Walk-n-Roll

Medtronic's newest Employee Resource Group 'ABLED" is on a Walk-n-Roll With Courage that is then off to the Minnesota Twins Game!

The annual Celebration of Courage is comprised of multiple events that raise money in support of Courage Center, Minnesota's largest nonprofit rehabilitation center for people with disabilities. Courage Center's mission is to empower people with physical disabilities to reach for their full potential in every aspect of life. Courage Center makes a difference in the lives of over 15,000 children, adults and seniors every year.

Medtronic has been a long-time supporter of Courage Center and the lead sponsor for the annual Celebration of Courage. This year is no exception. In addition to sponsoring and hosting the Courage Center Gala on August 21 - an event that honors individuals with disabilities who are national leaders in their profession and who have advanced issues important to people with disabilities - Medtronic is also sponsoring the new Walk-n-Roll with Courage fundraising event.

Medtronic's Awareness Benefiting Leadership and Employees with Disabilities (ABLED) group will play a large role in the Walk-n-Roll. They will be helping with pre-event planning; logistics coordination, and volunteer solicitation. They will also participate in the Walk on the day of the event. The mission of Medtronic's ABLED group is to promote awareness of how disabilities affect Medtronic employees and their families as well as the Medtronic work culture and in the community at large. The group encourages Medtronic's leadership and employees to be proactive in learning about how disabilities affect the workplace and careers. They also work to increase support for disability access and accommodations in the workplace.

The 2004 Medtronic Walk-n-Roll with Courage, which is also sponsored by the Minnesota Twins, will be held on Saturday, September 11th from 8:00am until noon. This family-friendly event includes a walk-n-roll-a-thon at the beautiful Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, located in Chanhassen, to raise pledges for Courage's wellness and fitness programs. Participants who raise $125 or more in pledges receive two free tickets to the Minnesota Twins game on September 18, 2004. Family and Corporate teams are encouraged to participate in the event. Donations in support of the event are welcome and special family ticket packages to the Twins game will be available for those unable to attend the Walk-n-Roll. For more information about this event, please contact the Courage Center at marilync@courage.org or visit the web page at www.courage.org.
