Congratulation to Margot Imdieke Cross,
the first recipient of the Charlie Smith Community Award

Congratulation to Margot Imdieke Cross, the first recipient of the Charlie Smith Community Award Margot has been a champion of the disability rights movement in Minnesota. She has been involved with numerous organizations, including working as the Accessibility Advocate for the Minnesota State Council on Disability where she has been employed for 19 years. In this capacity, Ms. Cross, a licensed access specialist, provides information/referral and technical assistance on state and federal access requirements, disability parking, housing access, transportation access and civil rights issues. She has provided countless presentations on disability awareness and access. She has been a resource to many individuals with disabilities.

Margot was on the Access Press Board of Directors from its inception until just over a year ago. She has been involved and is currently Chair of the Minneapolis Mayor's Advisory Committee on Disability. Margot also currently volunteers at the West Bank co-op. She has also been involved with numerous other nonprofits and volunteer efforts, including the Minneapolis Human Rights Commission (which she was Chair) and the Metropolitan Center for Independent Living Board of Directors.
