Tim Benjamin, Editor We
have a legislative success story! The Brain Injury Association (BIA)
was fortunate to have their bill passed and funded. With so much negative
to report on from the Legislature this last session we thought it would
be a good idea to spotlight a positive note. The BIA wanted us to list
all the names that were a part of the success; needless to say the list
was very long and we couldn’t make room for it, but the BIA thanks all
of you .

Mental Illness/Brain Disorders The Quality of Mercy by Peter Feigal There was a woman
in my therapy group at Hennepin County Day Treatment who was one of
the kindest and most insightful people I’ve ever met. Sue was comforting
and compassionate to everyone in the group and we all loved her. She
saw to the heart of every issue. She could speak not only in the language
of the rational, but also the poetry of the heart. Except
when she spoke of herself and her own pain. . . . |

Spirituality and Disability Come Collect Your 4.5 Million by Ellen Houghton Before
pulling out of the race, Ross Perot estimated he had spent $10 million
on his bid for the presidency. Even more surprising to me was that
he had been prepared to spend $100 million. Thinking about this made
me realize there may be an individual “out there” who might be the perfect
person to guide us through all the turmoil we currently have in our
world, but, ironically, he probably couldn’t afford to let us
all know he exists! .
