Accessible Performances

The following performances will be Audio Described (AD) for people who are blind or have low vision, or interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL) for people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.

An original site-specific performance in a gutted factory about the journey of a displaced woman from her Turkish/Muslim roots in war-torn Cyprus to England. Discussions on themes of immigration, memory, language and identity follow Saturday shows.

  • King Hedley II; runs 5/29-6/15; ASL Thurs., 6/12, 8:00; Penumbra Theatre; St. Paul; 651-224-3180, www.penumbratheatre.com. August Wilson's newest play, set in Pittsburgh in 1985, explores the struggles of an ex-convict at war with his past and his present, and the triumphs and trials of a community facing Reagan-era crime and unemployment.
  • Perfect Crime; runs 4/18-6/15; AD Thurs., 6/12, 7:30; Jungle Theater; Mpls.; 612-822-7063; www.jungletheater.com. This suspenseful cat-and-mouse investigation of a bizarre murder is brimming with surprising plot twists and complex, intriguing characters.

A musical about six good buddies, desperate to get their lives back together, who triumph over their fears, their nerves and their clothes. PLEASE NOTE: VSA arts of MN has reserved a limited number of discounted orchestra tickets for the 6/21 performance, priced at $32.50 or $27.50 (further to the side) with a good view of the interpreters. This sweet-natured ghost story centers on the haunting of an 18th-century house whose caretakers, a middle-aged couple, are changed by a century-old act of violence.
  • Broadway Bound; runs 5/30-6/29; AD Sun., 6/29, 2:00; Theatre in the Round Players; Mpls.; 612-333-3010; www.theatreintheround.org. Tony Award-winning Best Play about two brothers in 1950 breaking into writing comedy for radio. Their first broadcast hits a bit too close to home.
