Working Together for Change Conference

The 2003 Self-Advocacy Conference will take place in the Thunderbird Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota on April 25 & 26.

Sessions will encourage participants with developmental and other disabilities to develop self-advocacy skills such as decision-making, assertive communication and learning to live independently in the community.  Workshops include:  The Ladder of Leadership, Consumer-Directed Personal Care Assistance, Developing Your Communication Skills, Intro to Self-Advocacy, and How To Be A Self-Advocate In The World Of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Send Comments About Research Needs

The U.S. Dept. of Education has announced that a new Web site has been developed by the government’s Interagency Committee on Disability Research (ICDR) to gather comments and recommendations on research needs for Americans with disabilities.The committee produced the site to help ensure that federal research efforts meet the needs of the disability community.

The site can be found at http://www.icdr.us/.


Teachers Wanted!

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of MN (NAMI-MN) would like interested consumers to apply as teachers for their BRIDGES (Building Recovery of Individual Dreams and Goals through Education and Support) Program.

Applications must be received by Wed., April 16 for participation in a training session running May 2-4.
